Maritzburg boss explains why they sell star players
Chairman Mr Farook Kadodia would like to keep Maritzburg United‘s best players for more than one season, but says it is impossible.

Kadodia says that selling players helps sustain the club financially because they don’t have a shirt sponsor.
“The existence of Maritzburg here is based on the sales we have done in the past,” said Kadodia. “Have we not done the sales in the past we will not be having this kind of discussion.”
Kadodia added: “We are doing it purely to survive, if it wasn’t to survive I would love to keep players here for five years like many teams in Europe where they keep some players there as part of the furniture and I would love to do that.
“But as a successful business together with successful club we have to marry the two together.”
