Manyama, who has been in fantastic nick since the start of the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season, was rewarded for his match-winning goals in most of City’s victories during this period.
The panel of judges singled him out above his peers such as teammate Aubrey Mngoma, Prince Nxumalo from Ajax Cape Town, SuperSport United duo Thabo Mnyamane and Reneilwe Letsholonyane, excellent leadership qualities, intelligence, providing the creative spark including the goals as well as being the main driver in City’s success in the league thus far.
The Tembisa-born Manyama, who scored an impressive seven goals in October-November and December was joined on stage at the Premier Soccer League’s monthly awards ceremony on Monday afternoon by Eric Tinkler and Stuart Baxter.
Tinkler, the Cape Town City coach, was named the best Coach in the league for the month of December.
Baxter, on the hand, who has previously won the monthly award while coach at Kaizer Chiefs, was the recipient for the period of October-November.
During this phase of the first round, United proved unstoppable as they climbed the Absa Premiership log table registering convincing wins over fellow title challengers Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town and Highlands Park.
Tinkler and Baxter narrowly got the nod for the monthly awards ahead of other coaches that have performed well in the league such Stanley Menzo, Gavin Hunt, Luc Eymael, Pitso Mosimane and Steve Komphela.
The Players and Coach of the Month awards were selected by a panel of judges made up of members of the broadcast media and football analysts and was convened by renowned local coach Farouk Khan.
