Malesela rules himself out of Pirates job – report

Dan Malesela has reportedly ruled himself out of contention for the vacant Orlando Pirates coaching job.

Malesela has been linked with the head coaching position at Pirates, but the Chippa United coach is said to be adamant that he is staying with the Port Elizabeth-based side.

“You don’t understand how much pressure I have been under because people have been making like it’s a fait accompli that I will be going to Pirates‚” Malesela is quoted as saying by TMG Sport.

“It has been made like it is done and dusted, and we are just waiting for somebody to accept the money, and I’m going and all these things.

“It would be premature for me to go now and leave for any other club, and I’m leaving these boys here while I’m trying to build something. The day that I’m forced to leave Chippa will be very sad.”

A source close to Pirates though insisted that Malesela could well be the coach that will be announced by the club on Wednesday.

“What I know is that Dan’s name has come up constantly during meetings, and everyone at the club, including Mr Khoza, like his entertaining football style. So don’t be surprised if he is unveiled as the new coach,” said the source.

Pirates are set to announce their new coach on Monday.
