The Chilli Boys have found the going tough towards the end of the 2016/17 season with goals drying up and victories few and far in between.
The Port Elizabeth side started the season off on a good note but now find themselves three points above the relegation zone.
“I’m not one who believes in bad luck or who believes in myths but I really have to find out what is wrong with the team because I don’t see too much that is wrong with the playing side. What I see is wrong is a bit of misfortune,” Malesela said after the 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.
“I’m basing this on the number of injuries we are getting at the club. Every week I have to move somebody through injury or something of the sort. Just when it looks like we are getting our full team (back), somebody gets injured. Unfortunately we have now lost (Buyani) Sali and it also looks like Justice Chabalala and Daniel Akpeyi might be out for the next game.
“But we just have to soldier on with what we have. I just have to find solutions to the challenges we are having.”
“I think, based on what I saw, we probably could have gotten a draw against Chiefs. They had the better of the first half in terms of chances and we came up with a solution of some sort and in the second half we really put pressure on them. I told the players the game would be decided by one goal,” concluded Malesela.
