Bafana Bafana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia were ended with a 2-0 defeat to Senegal at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday night, and South Africans are not impressed.
The national team needed to beat Senegal in Polokwane, and again next Tuesday in Dakar, but unfortunately could not do it.
South Africans have taken to social media to complain about the loss, with some pointing out what should have been done, while others are calling for coach Stuart Baxter’s head.
However, EFF leader Julius Malema has chosen to remain positive in light of the unfortunate event, defending the national team against those who said it was “abusive”.
The EFF is the only political party that has been publicly rallying behind Bafana, even giving away free tickets to the past two matches.
“We support Bafana Bafana, come collect your free ticket now EFF South Africa’s Provincial office situated at number 8A Landros Mare street Polokwane. Do or Die they remain our national pride, make us proud boys,”said the EFF leader before the match.
Malema said despite the loss, “they are doing their best”.
He thanked South Africans and those on Limpopo for showing loving to the national team, urging them not to lose hope.
“The fight goes on, Bafana Bafana re kaofela. You remain our boys and we will never give up on you. We remain firmly and unashamedly behind our country #Salute,” said Malema.
He further thanked the team’s goal keeper Itumeleng Khune, who despite an injury, soldiered on and played the match with a protective mask.
“Thank you Khune for your patriotism, we are proud of you and the boys. We are BafanaBafana #bafanakaofela,” he added.
