Mahlambi hopes for an injury-free season

Bidvest Wits young player Phakamani Mahlambi hopes to have an injury-free season after scooping the 2016/17 PSL Young Player of the Season award.

Mahlambi beat Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha and Golden Arrows midfielder Nduduzo Sibiya to the accolade.

The Amajita player pocketed R50k prize money for the gong.

“Being injured is part of the game, I don’t allow it to cloud my mind. I’m just hoping this coming season won’t be like the past two seasons where I struggled due to injury.

“I still have a lot of work to do – I pray I stay injury-free.”

The Wits teenage sensation, who scored 10 goals in 27 league matches for the Clever Boys over the past two seasons, is set to go on trial in Portugal this week.
