Mabedi looking for win in Cape derby

Cape Town All Stars coach, Patrick Mabedi wants his team to be more cunning in their play as they play catch-up after slipping up in the first round in the National First Division (NFD).

Mabedi will guide his team in a Cape Town derby on Friday afternoon as they face FC Cape Town at Parow Park Stadium.

“For us it is catch-up now, you never know what can happen closer to the end of the season, you will be shocked because all teams will be looking to grab it, we just need to be consistent and take it one game at a time,” said the former Kaizer Chiefs defender.

Igugu leKapa go into Friday afternoon’s match on a back of a goalless draw against another Cape side, Stellenbosch last weekend and Mabedi wants a better result this time.

“It’s not about being physical, it is how you manage to keep the ball, the tactics and technique… that’s football. Most derbies have ended in a draws but we will be looking to play our game,” he said.

Igugu leKapa are 11th with 23 points while African Beasts are two places below with 22 points, and the match should be a cracker as both need the points to move away from the relegation zone.
