Mabedi explains why Khuzwayo was sent to the stands
Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Patrick Mabedi gave a shrewd response when asked about sending goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo to the stands in Amakhosi’s last two matches.

With Khuzwayo said to have signed a pre-contract with Amakhosi’s fierce rivals Orlando Pirates for next season, it was widely understood that Mabedi’s decision to exclude him from the match day squad was to prepare for life without him.
When asked about his decision after Chiefs’ 2-0 win at the weekend over Maritzburg United, Mabedi said: “At Chiefs we have amazing players. Players who can give a performance at any time. Sometimes you need to rotare and refresh the team. We needed to give the youngster a chance.”
Mabedi also explained bringing back Sibusiso Khumalo and Edmore Chirambandare into the team after they spent most of the season in the stands.
“With Khumalo and Chirambandare they have been working hard at training and they deserved a chance,” he said.
