Lorch remains doubtful for Pirates ahead of Galaxy clash

Thembinkosi Lorch remains doubtful for Orlando Pirates in their next DStv Premiership fixture against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

The midfielder missed out on the team’s last game, as he was a notable absentee in the Buccaneers league clash against Cape Town City, which they won 2-1 at Orlando Stadium.

Lorch, who had been impressive after returning in February from a long spell out in Pirates’ games prior to the City clash, picked up a minor injury ahead of that game.

The Pirates technical team will, however, be delighted with the potential return of defender Tapelo Xoki, could be ready  for the match against the Rockets as the Buccaneers look to continue their push to finish second in the DStv Premiership.

“Thembinkosi Lorch and Tapelo Xoki both sat out the Buccaneers’ 2-1 league win at home to Cape Town City over the weekend, with the defender not recovering in time for the clash after picking up a knock deep inside extra time during the marathon cup encounter against Dondol Stars in Polokwane,” read a medical report on the club’s website.

“Meanwhile, the attacking midfielder was not considered for selection following a minor knock picked up in the build-up to the fixture at Orlando Stadium. According to the medical team, Xoki is likely to be fit for selection ahead of Sunday’s league game away to TS Galaxy, having returned to full training after suffering a head injury.”

“Lorch, on the other hand, remains a doubtful starter for the clash in Mbombela and continues to be monitored, having picked up a knock to his hip.”

The Buccaneers made further updates on some of their players who have been out of action. Bandile Shandu and Craig Martin are available for selection, as well as goalkeeper Richard Ofori and Bienvenu Eva Nga.

“Vincent Pule and striker Ndumiso Mabena are expected to be back in full training during the course of the week after both were sidelined by knee injuries.”
