Live report: South Africa vs Senegal

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter believes his side have some stiff odds to overcome if they are to reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia, although it is possible if they beat Senegal twice.

Bottom-of-the-table Bafana face Senegal on Friday in Polokwane in what is a must-win clash, before facing the Lions of Teranga four days later in Dakar also needing victory.

Two wins would see the national team reach the global showpiece next year, although anything less would see Baxter’s men crash out. South Africa last qualified for the tournament in 2002 although in 2010 they took part as hosts.

Currently, the Senegalese top Group D with eight points from four matches, while Burkina Faso and Cape Verde have six from five, and SA four from four.
