Lesufi slams ABC Motsepe League management

Swallows were relegated to the SAB League (fourth tier) this past weekend after suffering a 2-1 loss to Orange Vaal Professionals, who finished second on the log behind champions Maccabi FC.

“That league [ABC Motsepe League] needs a complete overall. Some of us have evidence of the matches. We believe it undermines the importance of that league,” Lesufi, who is also the Gauteng MEC for Education, told the SABC.

“It is involved with wrong things. So the sooner those things are rectified, we are going to find ourselves in a very tough position in terms of development because there are some players that deserve to play in the professional league, but they can’t make it because they don’t have the financial strength to bribe their way to the PSL.

Meanwhile, as reported on Tuesday, Lesufi has confirmed that Swallows will be in talks with PSL clubs willing to sell their status.

Swallows tried to buy the Free State Stars’ status last season, but the deal fell through at the last moment.
