Leopards purring to go against Polokwane City

Coach Dylan Kerr believes his side are ready to battle Rise and Shine for all three points and the bragging rights.

Idling for three weeks has been frustrating for one Dylan Kerr and his Black Leopards side but the waiting is over for Lidoda Duvha as they return to action in the Limpopo derby against Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Leopards did keep busy with a couple of friendly games during the international break and Kerr believes his side are ready to battle Rise and Shine for all three Absa Premiership points and the bragging rights.

“This game is a matter of pride and honour in the province and at the end of the day you want the team that wants it the most to win the game. We have been keeping the spirits up and keeping everybody’s feet on the ground and heads out of the clouds. We have been keeping the mentality right because not playing in three weeks is very draining on players when they are not playing competitive football. Fortunately we played two friendly games and they were absolutely fantastic,” said Kerr.

“Three points are always important, it doesn’t matter whether it is the derby or you are playing Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates, we need the three points,” he added.

Kerr continued: “The reputations are on the line and we just have to hope that the players selected for the game will be hopeful as much as I and the fans are. We have to make sure that we look after ourselves first and we don’t think about anybody else and we don’t worry about anybody else.”

Kerr urged his players to have the right attitude and dwell on past results.

“I told the players that if we get the three points it will be a giant step of regaining top-flight status. If the result goes the other way, it is the massive leap back down to everybody else so we got to make sure that we go out with one thing in mind and that is to get three points.

“At the end of day you can be the best team in the world but if the team selected on the day does not have the right attitude then you can lose.”
