Lebese adjusting well to life at SuperSport

The former Kaizer Chiefs star player is currently on loan at SuperSport United from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Matsantsantsa A Pitori winger George Lebese sounds like a happier man at United since he made the temporary switch at the end of last month, penning a six-month long deal with the Pretoria-based side.

“I still feel like I am at home, it is still Pretoria. I know most of the players so it wasn’t difficult to adjust. The only thing I had to adjust to was how the coach wants me to play but so far it was good,” Lebese told reporters.

His arrival at Sundowns was met with lot of expectation, but he could not live up to those expectations. This time around, he is does not want to put any pressure on himself.

“My target is to contribute to the team. I don’t want to put pressure on myself. If I contribute to the team and get the points I’ll be very happy,” said Lebese, who revealed that he did not anticipate that his move from the Brazilians would materialize on transfer deadline day.

“I didn’t see it happening because it happened on the last day. It was a bit stressful but I am glad that it finally happened and I couldn’t have asked for anything else than to join such a great club. I got a call from my agent and he said there could be a potential move to another club and when the switch happened I was relieved.”

The 30-year-old is accustomed to facing Soweto giants Orlando Pirates although he may not have featured in any match against the Buccaneers in a Sundowns jersey, he has faced the Happy People numerous times when he was at Amakhosi. SuperSport will host Pirates on Wednesday in an Absa Premiership tie.

“We have ideas of how they want to attack because they have been very lethal this season, scoring goals and we have to try and stop that and obviously on the other side we have to try get the goals and win the match.

“They have a number of good players who they can rotate at any day and produce results. It doesn’t really bother us if they have been playing regularly because we had more time to prepare and we have to try and get maximum points in the game.”
