Komphela still feels pressure at Chiefs

Despite mustering a win over Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela feels the monkey is not yet off his back.

Amakhosi beat the African champions on Tuesday in an Absa Premiership encounter, the victory being Komphela’s third win out of eight this season, which saw them move up to third on the log.

“There is no relief,” said Komphela after the game.

“We just said to the players that we only got three points for Chiefs, the expectations are the same, we haven’t done anything … it is just that we won a big match.

“It is nice for the fans but for us maybe there should be more pressure because you think better and you don’t relax, you don’t sleep,” he added.

Komphela has been under fire of late, with the Chiefs faithful baying for his blood in recent games. However, the victory against Sundowns may have put the fans at ease ahead of Saturday’s Soweto derby against age-old rivals Orlando Pirates.
