Komphela responds to ‘Steve must go’ chants
Steve Komphela found himself once again having to be escorted to the stadium dressing rooms as Kaizer Chiefs fans bayed for his blood at Nelson Mandela Stadium on Wednesday night.

This was after Amakhosi suffered a 1-0 loss to the Chilli Boys. The loss extended Chiefs’ winless run in the Absa Premiership to five matches.

After the game, a section of the Chiefs fans waited for him next to the tunnel and chanted ‘Steve must go’.

“We don’t fight back [against the criticism from the fans]. You understand the frustration, because when things don’t work, the coach is accountable, naturally,” Komphela told SuperSport TV.

“That’s leadership. In any position, when things are not working, a point of reference is the one in charge and you accept that in leadership.

“The beauty of it is that players are still working and applying themselves, which is a good thing.”
