With the team having already lost out on the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout, Komphela now has the Nedbank Cup and Absa Premiership titles to fight for to save himself the disgrace of becoming the first Amakhosi coach to never win anything in three seasons.
This will be weighing heavily on the 50-year-old’s shoulders, but he claimed to be content and not at all worried about the situation.
“The beauty of aligned thinking is that it gives you comfort emotionally,” he said. “Sometimes a part of your inner strength is not moulded only by the setbacks but also by your rationale. Anxiety builds when you are not sure. And you become unsure if you are scrambling everywhere.
“But that is not the case with me because I am a man of process and I am working here looking at going as far as the last day, contributing in a manner that when I leave, or stay, I will have done my job in a manner that is highly respectable,” he added.

Chiefs have added three new players to their arsenal in a move the club’s football manager Bobby Motaung explained as a means to support the coach in his quest for silverware. Siphelele Ntshangase, Leonardo Castro and Kabelo Mahlasela have come in.
Komphela said he was happy with what he has been given.
“We can’t be greedy. One has to appreciate the new intake and hope they will come to the party quickly enough. The challenge will be the integration, but they are quality,” said Komphela.
With Mahlasela having suffered a knee injury in his first training session at the club, Komphela is expected to field Ntshangase and Castro in their next game.
