Komphela living in the moment

Chiefs beat Cape Town City 1-0 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night thanks to a goal from striker Ryan Moon.

“It won’t be easy. We said it at the dressing room matches of this calibre could be won on small margins. Even though I thought we had more chances to score two or three goals more but one has to be gracious and say he’s happy with the result and the three points. Benni’s team is not easy to play against. We are delighted with the victory,” Komphela told SuperSport TV.

Komphela spoke of his side’s approach to the game and the substitutions he made during the game.

“What we are trying to do is effect the game more positively. We told them in the dressing room that if you don’t finish chances like this, they will finish us so you need to be clinical. We told them that we have enough quality on the bench whether you take out [Leonardo] Castro and put in [Bernard] Parker you still get the same outcome. Whether you take out Ntshangase and put in Pule [Ekstein] or Shabba you still get a good outcome. I thought the three subs assisted a lot,” he said.

The former Bafana Bafana defender said they are not thinking about the future with only four points separating log leader Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

“Focus, focus, focus take it one game at a time. The essence of stress is the anticipation of time that is not available. We live for now. We live for this match, kill this one whatever happens tomorrow will happen.

“But if you want to finish the matches now with nine matches still to play, you’re likely to regret because somewhere you’re going to fluff. Concentrate on this one. Kill this one. Each time you live for now you have little pain because you don’t think much about what’s going to happen tomorrow. We live for now,” he added.
