Khuzwayo not guaranteed game time at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has made it clear that goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo needs to earn his place in the team’s starting XI.

It was reported that Khuzwayo wanted Chiefs to promise him game time before he could sign a new contract.

Khuzwayo’s contract with Chiefs expires at the end of the 2017/2018 season.

The Umlazi-born goal minder has had to wait on the sidelines while Itumeleng Khune was picked ahead of him.

“Every player comes here [at Chiefs] to compete. With regards to Khuzwayo, he needs to compete. Khune is doing well at the moment,” said Motaung.

“If you are not using a player and keeping a player that is not in your plans you need to accept that the player wants to go to a club that he also wishes to go to. If a player is in his last six or eight months of his contract and the player is not happy then there is a club that wants to acquire the player’s services and you need to accept that. We had a George Lebese here who had a season to go and wanted to leave, we couldn’t keep him. If a player still wants to play for the club there is no need to transfer the player.”
