Khune making a steady recovery

With Kaizer Chiefs players returning from holidays to start with their pre-season training on Wednesday, skipper Itumeleng Khune is yet to get the go-ahead from the medical team to resume training, while Happy Mashiane and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo have fully recovered from their respective injuries.

Khune’s injury, which he sustained towards the end of last season, saw him miss the on-going 2019 Africa Cup of nations with Bafana Bafana.

However, the club’s medical staff has shed on the recovery of the shot-stopper, stating that he is making progress on his recovery.

“Goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is progressing well on his journey back to fitness after a long absence due to a shoulder injury,” read a statement from the club.

“Happy Mashiane, on the other hand, is ready to resume training after a long absence due to a toe injury. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is also making great progress as he works on his recovery from an Achilles injury but is not expected to join his teammates in full training during this pre-season.

“The medical team will assess the trio throughout the pre-season and give an update on their anticipated return and readiness to participate in competitive matches.”
