Khune defies running tummy to lead Chiefs to victory

Khune was awarded the Man-of-the-Match award for his fine displays on Sunday afternoon.

Coach Steve Komphela revealed that Khune complained about his stomach during the match.

“Funny enough, now as we had a chat in the dressing room he says to me, ‘Mukwetlisi (Coach), you know I think I must always have this running tummy, because each time I have a running tummy I get Man-of-the-Match’. He’s reminding me that even in Bafana matches and all that,” said Komphela.

“He played today [Sunday] and he had a little bit of an upset stomach, so I said to him, ‘My man I’m going to pray that you stay like that in matches so that you can pull Man-of-the-Match (performances).

“So, it’s good that an athlete commits to the cause, plays very well, saves and makes the team win when they are still not on top of their physical condition,” added Komphela.
