Kenny Kunene’s plan to save Orlando Pirates

Sushi king and businessman Kenny Kunene has joined a list of people who think they may just have the solution to end Orlando Pirates’ losing streak.

Pirates lost to Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium, adding to the long list of matches it has recently lost, much to the supporters’ disappointment. However, Kunene, a Kaizer Chiefs fan, is offering his soccer skills to the team to help reclaim its glory.

Taking to Instagram after the match, Kunene said it was time he saved the Bucs with his soccer skills.

“I think it’s time for me to save Orlando Pirates. I must get out of retirement and bring back my skills that earned me the names Jazzman and Katango,” he wrote, along with a picture of his younger self looking slim.

Though some supported his call, some said they were okay and Orlando Pirates would have to find another solution. Kunene was making fun of Pirates, the team supported by EFF leader Julius Malema.

Pirates recently lost 4-1 to Supersport United in the Nedbank Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium, and Malema was one of the politicians who did not hold back from expressing his frustrations on social media.

Malema said he was “consulting top legal minds” regarding Orlando Pirates’ embarrassing performance and felt strongly that the matter “should go to the Constitutional Court”, as he was suspecting corruption at the match.

“Yeses! Can’t take this humiliation, something must be done,” he said.

He has not come back with the findings, but clearly, the longer he waits, the more games his team will keep losing.

His former drinking partner, Police Minister Fikile Mbalula, thinks the problem is Pirates’ backline.

“Pirates, we need to sort out backline and midfield goals will come. Our backline is in tatters if a coach can’t see THAT he must go..Period!” he tweeted.

But sangoma Nzama Maluleke from Meadowlands, Soweto, seems to think there is more to Pirates’ losses than meets the eye.

Maluleke said Pirates were being followed by bad luck. He advised the team to slaughter three cows, three white goats and three white chickens and ask for good luck from their ancestors.

Perhaps Pirates should listen to Kunene, Malema, Mbalula and the sangoma to end this losing streak. It might just work.
