Kekana blames SA for Masuluke’s Puskas loss

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana believes Oscarine Masuluke missed out on the Fifa Puskas Award because he didn't have the backing of all South Africans.

Masuluke, who was the finalist for the award, lost out to Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in the end.

“It goes down to votes. You won’t stand a chance if you don’t get those votes. The sooner we realise that as a country, the better,” Kekana told Sowetan.

“We should have voted to make sure our very own wins. We should take the blame ourselves as a nation.”

Kekana was nominated for the award last year for a goal he scored in national team colours, but could not muster enough votes to win it.
