KCCA relish underdog status against Sundowns

The Brazilians, who won last year’s Champions League, will be heavy favourites to beat their Ugandan opponents, who have never reached the Champions League group stages.

“We are an emerging force, a growing team, we are the underdogs, playing the best club in Africa, so there is no pressure,” said Mutebi.

“We will take the underdog definition in good faith and be respectful. They are better than us so there is no pressure at all.”

Mutebi added that he hopes for a fine game of football in Atteridgeville.

“We want the crowd, at the end of the day, to watch a good match that is a good advertisement for African football. We believe we can … go toe to toe with Sundowns, we will give them respect but we do not fear them.

“They (Sundowns) are a fantastic team. Pitso Mosimane was coach of South Africa when I was coach of Uganda so I know he is a man who loves good, adventurous football. They are very dangerous, we have watched them (on television), they have not watched us, they did not have access … so we have some advantage, but the bottom line is ….we are not to react to what they do, we have our way of playing. We respect them, but we are not going to change our way of playing, because we are playing Sundowns.”
