‘Kaizer Chips’ – Chiefs’ nickname becomes reality

Chiefs have long been mocked with the nickname 'Kaizer Chips' and now you can literally eat them.

Football fans have taken to social media to respond to Kaizer Chiefs’ decision to launch their own brand of potato chips.

Supporters of other teams have tended to mock Chiefs with the nickname ‘Kaizer Chips’, especially in the last few years, as the club’s trophy haul has completely dried up. Amakhosi have not won an official piece of PSL or continental silverware in over eight years.

Chiefs announced on Monday that their newly introduced potato chips come in three mouth watering flavours: grilled steak, salt and vinegar, and tomato.

The date for the chips to be available at shops is yet to be announced by the club but club spokesman Vina Maphosa promised that it would be before the end of October.

As expected, Chiefs’ decision to launch their own brand of chips has produced plenty of reaction from fans and journalists on social media.
