Kaizer Chiefs explain Ekstein and Co exit

Kaizer Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club has parted ways with midfielders Pule Ekstein and Kgotso Malope as well as striker Gustavo Paez.


With the season coming to an end in just few weeks time, the trio’s early release came as a bit of a surprise to many.

“Yes, it is a matter of work in progress at Chiefs… When we sign players we do so with the best of intentions. Bringing any player at Chiefs is with a view for a successful partnership. But sometimes things don’t work as planned. I wish the players all of the best going forward in their new endeavours,” Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung told the club’s website.

Motaung added that the trio’s release was based on the report provided by the technical team.

“It is a norm that at the end of the season we will consolidate all the technical reports and decide on the way forward for next season. All other player movements will be announced in due course,” commented Motaung.

Chiefs are expected to release more players at the of the season. The likes of Bhongolwethu Jayiya and Emmanuel Letlotlo are expected to exit the club.
