Kaizer Chiefs suffer fourth defeat against CT City but Zwane ‘isn’t much worried’

Kaizer Chiefs lost four consecutive league games for the first time in PSL history but Zwane refuses to give up.

Embattled Kaizer Chiefs suffered a devastating fourth defeat against Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 30 April.

Another defeat for Chiefs

Craig Martin and Terrence Mashego secured City’s 2-1 victory. And substitute Dumisani Zuma’s goal in the 83rd minute was not enough to secure a win for the Chiefs.

Zuma was also robbed of another shooting chance six minutes later, thwarted effortlessly by City goalkeeper Hugo Marques.

Both teams will return this coming week, with Chiefs challenging Marumo Gallants at their home ground on 3 May, while City will be away at Chippa United on 4 May.

Remaining DStv Premiership fixtures

  • 8 May: Mamelodi Sundowns

  • 21 May: Swallows

Cape Town City

Earlier, interim coach Arthur Zwane said Amakhosi was aware of City’s “strong points and weaknesses, so we will try and stop them from getting time and space on the ball against Chiefs“.

Shame, it didn’t help. But despite the defeat – and going eight straight seasons without bagging a single trophy – Zwane refuses to give up.

‘We have to carry on’

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the match, Zwane said losing was a big disappointment, but he’s still holding on to hope.

“We can’t give up now”, Zwane said. “We just have to carry on working hard. The games come in thick and fast”.

He believes it will get better and said he isn’t “that much worried”.

“Yes, you can see our chances of getting the second spot are slim but it is not over until the fat lady sings”, he added.
