Josephs slams Wits teammates after City defeat

Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs lambasted his teammates following their failure to reach the MTN8 final.

This comes after the Students lost 3-1 on aggregate to Cape Town City at the Bidvest Stadium on Sunday.

Josephs believes there is no more hunger and determination to continue from their success from last season.

“It is difficult to accept, it’s not about taking opportunities but we go about our games. The lack of desire, passion and the hunger to win games,” said Josephs.

“We as players of Bidvest seem like we have won enough, having won the league last season and that’s it. Most us were first time winners of the so that hunger and passion is gone.”

The Wits shot stopper added that City deserved to win following their hard work, something that is currently lacking at his club.

“Cape Town City deserve to go through. They have the hunger and the desire. Missing opportunities, yes it happens.

“We not willing to run hard and work hard and at the end of the day Cape Town City did that. We don’t deserve to be in the final, we’ve been playing okay football, but okay is not good enough. If you won the League you want to keep on improving, we need to keep on improving. But it’s one thing to work hard and achieve more, but we lack that. That has been our issue so far.”
