AmaZulu coach Cavin Johnson says coming back to playing in top flight football was always going to be difficult for them, but he is happy with what his players have produced so far.

Usuthu are one of the oldest teams in the country and were relegated to the national First Division during the 2014/2015 season, but they managed to make their way back to South Africa’s elite league this season after buying the status of Thanda Royal Zulu.
“I think coming to the Absa Premiership was always going to be a challenge for AmaZulu. At the same time, most of my players have not played more than 20 games in the PSL,” Johnson told the club’s website.
“That in itself is a lot of pressure, and along with that is the fact that this is the oldest club in South Africa – 86 years old – and I think one of our supporters is 150-years-old,” he continued.
“But we’re happy with where we are right now. We’re happy that we’ve shown signs that we can win some games.”
The KwaZulu-Natal club have recorded six wins, 10 draws and eight losses in their last 24 matches in the league.
The team is currently on the 11th spot on the log table with 28 points.
