Italy coach heaps praise on Chiefs player

Italy U20 coach Alberigo Evani believes Kaizer Chiefs and Amajita midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa is destined for Europe.

The South Africa U20 team were beaten 2-0 by Italy in their group stage match of the U20 World Cup, which led to them bowing out of the tournament after collecting one point in three games.

The former AC Milan midfielder won a number of trophies with the Rossoneri from 1980 until 1993.

“South Africa’s number six [Meyiwa] might play at some stage in Europe.

“He was our great worry, and it was our tactic to block him from getting the ball and, instead, the defenders had to bring up the ball, and they were not so skillful.”

The 17-year-old Amakhosi starlet said he had learned a lot from playing in the Fifa competition.

“You learn the most when playing against the best, and at a World Cup one plays against the best,” Meyiwa told Chiefs’ official website.
