A photo of Mokwena giving Zungu a Pirates jersey as a birthday gift has sparked rumours that Mokwena was trying to convince Zungu when he decides to return to the Absa Premiership.
Zungu posted the photo of himself and Mokwena on his social media accounts.
“Thank you so much for the visit my coach and the birthday gift. Very thoughtful of you,” read a message from Zungu to Mokwena.
The Pirates assistant coach responded to the midfielder’s message.
“You most welcome Bongani Zungu it’s the least I could do for all the gifts I’ve received from you!! Thanks for the hospitality and warmth. Pass my regards to your mom and brother Remain the humble giant that you are! You’re an inspiration to many… God bless you,” wrote Mokwena.
Mokwena and Zungu worked together at Mamelodi Sundowns before the Bafana Bafana midfielder left the Brazilians to pursue a career in Europe in 2016.
