The Johannesburg private investigator reportedly took the former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker’s phone moments after he was gunned down outside his home in Olivedale last week Monday.
According to News24, some information was wiped out of the phone by the time it was recovered by the police.
The private investigator is set to appear in court for stealing the phone.
“He was arrested and charged with defeating the ends of justice. He was found in possession of the deceased’s cellphone and apparently some information was allegedly removed. He is appearing [in] the Randburg Magistrate’s Court today. No one has been arrested in connection with the murder,” police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini was quoted as saying by News24.
