Banyana Banyana‘s kit sponsors, Le Coq Sporif, on Friday unveiled more shirts that the senior national women’s team will wear at this year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
On Thursday, which was Freedom Day in South Africa, the clothing manufacture released an alternate kit inspired by the shirt Bafana Bafana wore when they won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.
On Friday, they then revealed the home and away kits that Desiree Ellis’ side will wear at the quadrennial showpiece of women’s football.
Banyana Banyana will play in their second consecutive Fifa Women’s World Cup finals this year, and qualified by winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time last year.
South Africa have been drawn in Group G at the World Cup, along with Sweden, Argentina and Italy. Ellis’ charges will play Sweden in Wellington in July 23, Argentina in Dunedin on July 28 and Italy in Wellington in August 2. The top two teams in each of the eight groups at the World Cup will go to the last 16.
