I don’t hold a grudge against Makhubedu – Komphela

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says he looks younger because he never holds grudges.

The Amakhosi coach says he is past the insults which were directed to him and his team by then Acornbush United coach MacDonald Makhubedu after defeating them in a Nedbank Cup match last season.

Makhubedu was angry that Amakhosi didn’t play well as he would have wanted his young team to learn from them and later apologies for statements he made on live television.

Makhubedu is now coach at Baroka FC and will be on the bench on Saturday when they meet Amakhosi in Ke Yona quarterfinals at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

“I am no man of vengeance. Never. Not me. You can commit the worst error ever and check if I will forgive and forget. The next time I see you it will be like it’s not me. That’s why I hardly have a wrinkled face because I don’t hold my face tight in anticipation of revenge. I relax, let go and God… I think then that issue was addressed.

“I don’t want to start it now. We wish him well as a coach there. It would be nice to see more of us plugging the PSL and also leading the game with lots of integrity and respect. It is one industry we have to protect because if I don’t protect football by disrespecting a colleague I am actually destroying what is supposed to give us a life.

“If you suffer sometimes don’t just because you are suffering lest you forget that as you try to get out of your suffering you are making others suffer,” said Komphela.
