Hunt sympathises with Chiefs’ under-fire Ntseki

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has sympathised with his Kaizer Chiefs counterpart Molefi Ntseki, who was once again escorted off the field to the change room.

Following the 1-0 loss to SuperSport at New Peter Mokaba Stadium, an angry faction of Amakhosi fans threw missiles at the under-fire coach.

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung had to step in to try and calm the situation down as emotions ran high in the stands.

Hunt commented on the ugly scenes that marred Matsatsantsa a Pitori’s narrow win where Terrence Dzvukamanja scored the only goal of the game.

‘I’ve been there’

“I’ve been there (before) I’ve been at (Moroka) Swallows in the boot of a car so I understand,” he said.

“It’s not really for me to comment but it’s not the right way to handle things. We need to be more understanding of situations.

“Maybe they will win on Saturday then what happens? You never know in football but I think we can handle these things in other ways, it’s sad, very sad.”

The Naturena-based outfit will next face an unbeaten Mamelodi Sundowns side in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final with the game tied at 1-1 from the first match. 

The club is in danger of further punishment from the PSL after being found guilty of a similar offence against TS Galaxy last month.

“Kaizer Chiefs was fined a monetary amount of R100,000, of which R30,000 is suspended for a period of 24 months on condition that during the period of suspension, they are not found guilty of the same offence,” PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu said in a statement.
