Highlands confirm interest in Polokwane striker

Highlands Park coach Owen da Gama has confirmed his side's interest in striker Rodney Ramagalela.

Ramagalela has been sidelined by Polokwane City for allegedly refusing to agree to a new deal with the Limpopo outfit, with his current deal with the club set to expire at the end of the season.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker is said to have told his agent Mike Makaab that he would like to move to Johannesburg for family reasons.

Da Gama says Ramagalela will compliment his Zimbabwean striker Tendai Ndoro.

“Rodney Ramagalela is on top of my list. He is experienced upfront, and I think he will bring more out of (Tendai) Ndoro because at the moment, we are playing with one striker. I think with his experience, he can certainly help us,” Da Gama told Independent Media.

“We’ll have to wait and see whether we get him or not, but certainly, I am very interested in a player like him. I think it looks more likely, but I don’t know what is happening. I’ve just heard that he has been suspended. I don’t know what’s going on there. Certainly if we can’t have him now (in January), hopefully we can hang in and have him in June.”

Meanwhile, Da Gama also confirmed they have already welcomed former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mandla Masango for trials.
