The ailment has developed into a cancerous tumour on her face which has left her unable to breathe properly.
Last Saturday, the 45-year-old Luthuli was presented with a cheque for R100 000 towards her medical expenses and transport costs.
“She came to my office for help. I am so happy that she will be able to see the necessary specialists and get help. I am thankful for what Sandile has done,” said Mayor Gumede.
The mayor also revealed that a Johannesburg-based doctor had also pledged his support and would be attending to Luthuli to assess her situation and find out what can be done to help her.
