Gould surprised by Bafana call-up

SuperSport United defender Morgan Gould says he was surprised by the Bafana Bafana call-up.

Gould, who last played for the national team four years ago, was named in the Bafana squad that will play Cape Verde in the World Cup qualifiers next month.

“It took me by surprise, especially when the other guys in the national team were doing well and in football you don’t change what is broken,” Gould told KickOff.

“I am feeling ecstatic. It feels like the first day I received my first call and I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and I hope to keep doing well,” he added.

The former Kaizer Chiefs defender achieved a personal best of 300 PSL games when SuperSport faced cross town rivals in Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend.

“I was not aware of the milestone. It’s a great feeling. I am ready to still go on and I am looking forward to keep enjoying every game I play,” said Gould.

“It’s all due to the support staff and the people who believe in me. When I started football in the township I wanted to better my life.

“I respected the game and remain honest to the game. I am not the most talented player but I always dedicate my time and energy because I love the game,” he concluded.
