Massa demands that Celtic pay him $40 000 (about R540 000), which should have been paid to him while he was contracted to the team. The former Baroka FC striker said the money owed to him made up part of the singing-on fee he should have received from the club.
The total signing-on fee was $120 000, but Massa received US $80 000. The forward says he has handed the matter over to his lawyer in South Africa.
Celtic have been accused of not paying players and staff on time in the past, with reports suggesting the club was facing financial difficulty.
“I signed a contract with them and they have a balance that they did not pay. It is only fair in business that they fulfil their side,” says Massa.
“I have sent them so many reminders and even called them, but they have always acted like they do not know what is happening,” explained Massa, who is now club-less.
