SuperSport captain Dean Furman is wary of a resurgent Black Leopards as Matsatsantsa travel to face Lidoda Duvha at Thohoyandou Stadium this afternoon.
Furman is nearing a return after being sidelined since October last year by a shoulder injury. He returned to training this week and says Leopards’ decent run of form will not make it easy.
“It is going to be very tough for us at Black Leopards. They are coming off the back of two victories and will be full of confidence. We will have to match their effort and hunger. We are going there to fight for all three points,” Furman told the club’s website.
“Results haven’t gone our way over the last few weeks. It is unfortunate that we picked up the injuries we did at a crucial stage of the season. We must try and get back to winning ways as soon as possible and hopefully we can gain some momentum to help us move back up the table,” he added.
The 30-year-old midfielder went on to lament his frustrating time on the sidelines. However, while unlikely to feature today, he is looking forward to making his comeback.
“It has been very difficult to miss so many games over the last few months. Thankfully, I have been relatively lucky throughout my career that I haven’t missed many matches through injuries. Unfortunately, injuries are part of being a footballer,” said Furman.
The Bafana Bafana international added: “It has been great to join the team in training. This is the first step to making a full return to action and I am enjoying being able to train without any pain.”
