Free State Stars name used in a scam

Former Chiefs midfielder Steven Ncanana and Tshepo Matete were targeted by a conman posing as Free State Stars boss Rantsi Mokoena.

According to Daily Sun the conman contacted Ncanana and Matete promising to place them at Stars for a fee.

The players were then asked to deposit money into an account to cover travelling costs to Bethlehem where the club is based.

Mokoena responded angrily upon learning his name and that of the club were used in the scam.

“It’s infuriating that this imposter is using my good name and that of the club to try and con players and coaches out of money with false promises,” said Mokoena.

“He must be stopped. I want to make sure everyone knows about this – don’t give this con man money. ”

The conman tries to trick people by saying he is Rantsi Mokoena and that they must deposit R4 500 into his account to pay for flight to Bethlehem, and that they would get a trial or job when they arrive.
