The 38-year-old former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United player replaces Delano Hendricks who was is said to have been offered a new role at the club.
Hendricks leaves his position of being a coach having guided the club in seven games this season.
He only managed to secure two wins, two draws and lost the other three matches in the race for promotion to the DStv Premiership.
La Masia are on ninth spot on the league standings, with eight points – eight points behind log leaders Orbit College FC who are on 16 points.
Klate will have to make sure that he gets the ball rolling quickly at La Masia and start collecting as many points as possible in order to be one of the teams fighting for automatic promotion or a place in the playoffs towards the end of the season.
