Former Chiefs defender retires

The defender, who also played for Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership, will take up a role as the secretary general of the Footballers’ Union of Zimbabwe.

“I have decided to call it quits. I am happy to join FUZ where I will impart my football knowledge and help our youngsters, especially in cases to do with contractual issues,” Sweswe told the Newsday.

Sweswe will replace the late secretary general of the Footballers’ Union of Zimbabwe Paul Gundani as confirmed by FUZ president Desmond Maringwa.

“We had a congress on Monday and Sweswe was chosen to become the new secretary general.

“We had a voting process where there were other nominees Mkhokheli Dube, Ashely Rambanepasi, Wonder Sithole and Sweswe was eventually voted the new SG,” explained Maringwa.
