The 23-year-old Wilken has also confirmed the move on Twitter in a post where he thanked Usuthu for having given him a chance.
“I am humbled and excited for my new role and the season ahead,” he wrote. “I leave AmaZulu a different person having arrived at the team a young boy out of his comfort zone. I was given a chance to learn and grow.
“From being a coach in the juniors to being part of the senior team. I will always appreciate the love and support I received at the club.
“In saying that, I am happy that I have joined Orlando Pirates. This is a truly exciting time for the club as a whole and I am humbled to be a part of it,” said Wilken. Pirates recently added goalkeeper coach Andrew Sparkes to their technical team.
