Copenhagen announced over the weekend that Singh was hospitalised with a mystery illness in Denmark.
“Luther Singh has been admitted to hospital after suffering from an illness,” the club said in a statement.
This was after the Bafana star fell ill during a match against PAOK earlier in the week.
“I think we keep it internal, but what I can say is that on our trip to Greece, additional symptoms arose in relation to some disease,” Thorup told Danish publication Bold.
“Therefore, they chose to admit Luther for further observation and examination. What has come out of it, I can not say more about. I can not say much other than that he is being examined, and then we have to see what the outcome will be.
“He has been under observation for a long time, and at some point, you reach a stage where it is said that now we need further examinations, and therefore our doctor chose to hospitalise him.
“There is nothing more dramatic in it, other than that we have to be sure of what it is we have to deal with. That is why we have left it to the hospital system.
“That’s probably enough [that he will miss the rest of the year] without me being able to say it 100 percent right now. It’s more about him getting well and ready again, more than me thinking about whether he should play or not.”
