“He was found in possession of drugs and was taken to the Douglasdale Police Station and was released on R500 bail. He appeared at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday and will appear again sometime next week,” said Makhubela.
Ngwenya was released by Botswana’s Township Rollers in June 2015, and he decided to retire from professional football.
He last played in the Absa Premiership in 2011 for Mpumalanga Black Aces, who are now known as Cape Town City, having been bought by John Comitis last season.
Ngwenya has also played for Thanda Royal Zulu, Alexandra United and Notwane of Botswana in his football career.
