Ex-City defender Fielies excited with AmaZulu move

AmaZulu FC have bolstered their squad ahead of the end of the transfer window deadline with the signing of centre-back Taariq Fielies on a permanent deal.

Fielies joins Usuthu from Cape Town City, where he has been playing since 2017.

The club announced the signing of the 31-year-old defender on Thursday.

“We are excited to officially announce Taariq Fielies as our new signing. The centre-back joins us on a permanent agreement,” the club wrote on their social media platforms.

Fielies says he is happy to be part of the Usuthu squad and has promised the fans that he will give his best whenever he puts on the club jersey.

“My name is Taariq Fielies, a centre-back, your new signing. I would just like to thank the club for bringing me on board. And I guarantee you that I will give my all whenever I put on the jersey. I’m looking forward to meeting the fans,” the defender said in a video posted by the team.

Fielies becomes the second signing for AmaZulu this week after the club acquired the services of former Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari.

He will be available for the club’s next DStv Premiership game against Polokwane City away from home on 25 September.
