Ex-Chiefs striker slams lack of passion and hunger in PSL strikers

Collins Mbesuma says strikers are no longer competing with each other to see who the top goal poacher in the Premier Soccer League is.

The former Absa Premiership top goal scorer who now plays for National First Division side Maccabi FC was commenting on the question as to why there are lack of goals the Absa Premiership.

Mbesuma says his goal was always to be the best striker in the league and score in each game he played.

“I think nowadays strikers lack that hunger and passion to score goals,” Mbesuma was quoted as saying by the Daily Sun. ““The biggest problem is that strikers are not competing against each other, let alone those from other clubs. During my time at Chiefs, I was competing with guys like Sandile “AK 47” Ndlovu, Lungisani Ndlela and many more.

“I used to tell myself that I have to fight to score in each and every game, or else these guys will catch up with me. It was a healthy competition among strikers and the hunger to score goals was big, which kept us scoring and making the league exciting.”

The former Mpumalanga Black Aces striker believes some strikers are not hungry to score goals for their teams.
