Ex-Bafana star joins ABC Motsepe League side

Former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lerato Chabangu has joined Mikhado FC.

Mikhado FC play in the ABC Motsepe League in Limpopo.

According to a source close to Chabangu, the 32-year-old midfielder has signed a one-year contract with the club.

“It’s the same club that former Black Leopards midfielder Christopher Netshidzivhe plays for. They’re campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League. They’re hoping that these experienced players will help them gain promotion to the NFD,” said the source.

Chabangu was on the verge of signing for NFD side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, but the deal fell through.

The midfielder, whose career has been marred by controversy, was last on the books of Chippa United in 2016.

In an interview with The Sowetan in September, Chabangu revealed that he spent most of his earnings from football on women, cars and alcohol.

“I blew all my money on useless things because I was always guaranteed a salary the following month,” Chabangu told the newspaper.

“We used to finish training by 11am, and thereafter you are free to do whatever you want. We would go to Shisanyama after training and chill there over a few drinks, and it just became a habit.”
