Two defeats to Cape Verde in a matter of days have seriously dented their chances of qualifying for the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
Stuart Baxter’s side lost 2-1 to Cape Verde in Praia on Friday, and were beaten by the same scoreline in Durban on Tuesday, to leave South Africa bottom of Group D with just two games left to play.
“Bafana not winning yesterday (in Durban), it breaks your heart,” said Zothwane, currently coaching Golden Arrows’ Multichoice Diski Challenge team.
“We are looking to get qualification for the World Cup, and there are a lot of dynamics, but it breaks my heart because we want to qualify. We have been changing coaches and the same thing goes on.”
Moriri, who is assisting David Notoane with the Sundowns MDC team, said it is partly up to coaches to develop better players.
“When you see us losing home games, and that we are running out of games, where it is not longer in our hands and we are relying on someone else to lose, it is not a good thing,” said Moriri.
“As development coaches we have to have a hand in this thing and really have to make sure we discover new talent to come and help Bafana.
“This is one group of Bafana players I thought was very strong, that could go straight to the World Cup.If you had said Bafana would take three points out of six against Cape Verde, people would have said ‘we want the six points.’.
“We didn’t get a single point so it is very frustrating. But we don’t have to lose hope and we must make sure we produce good players. We just have to support Bafana and Stuart Baxter.”
