Erasmus moves past Mashaba beef

Kermit Erasmus has buried the hatchet with former Bafana Bafana coach  Shakes Mashaba and has committed himself to the national team.

The striker fell out with Mashaba when the former Orlando Pirates forward didn’t honour a national team call-up as a replacement for Tokelo Rantie for a match against Gambia.

“I’m no back-up player,” tweeted Erasmus at the time.

Erasmus then vowed to return to the national team only when Bafana Bafana have a new coach.

“For me, like I said, it is all in the past and I’m here to focus on the present and try to structure the future to make sure it looks right,” said Erasmus.

“Everybody knows the reason. I don’t need to speak about the reason I was left out.”

The Stade Rennais F.C attacker has 11 Bafana Bafana caps and has scored one goal for the national team.
